BoA Celebrates 10th Year Anniversary of Japanese Debut

It has been exactly 10 years since BoA made her debut in Japan today as she celebrated the special occasion with her fans worldwide. “Thanks for all of your greeting messages about my 10th anniversary in Japan. Wish I could be there with you, but we will see each other soon ;)” BoA wrote on her twitter page (@boa_1105) today with the hashtag #BoA10thyearJP. Countless messages have been flowing in through this hashtag and she seemed particularly touched by a surprise cake and wine event put together by her staff members (see photo below).

BoA made her official debut in Japan on May 30th, 2001. Since her debut single “ID: Peace B,” which ranked #20 on the Weekly Oricon Singles Chart, BoA has released a total of 31 singles and 12 albums in Japan including numerous hit tracks such as “Listen to My Heart,” “No.1,” “Valenti,” “My Name,” and “Do the Motion.” BoA is largely credited for paving the way for Korean artists to make strides into the Japanese music industry, as DBSK once stated, “DBSK’s success in Japan was mainly based on the success of BoA in Japan.”

The star singer is currently working on her Hollywood debut film, “Cobu 3D.” Starring with former “Dancing with the Stars” champion Derek Hough, BoA will portray a dancer working to make it big in New York’s underground dance scenes.

It’s hard to believe it’s already been 10 years since BoA’s Japanese debut. Congratulations on reaching the milestone and hope you have a long, successful career!
