Super Junior Preparing for Comeback with 5th Album

Super Junior recently revealed that they had already started recording their 5th album to return to the Korean music scene. ELFs, are you ready for their comeback?

On the broadcast of Super Junior's radio show 'Kiss the Radio' on 1st June, Super Junior member, Yesung, revealed that the band had already begun recording their 5th album.
Leeteuk, who was in the studio as well, confirmed Yesung's statement and tweeted later on, "We will prepare hard for the 5th album. It will once again give everyone a surprise!"

 

However, Leeteuk wasn't the only member to share the news about Super Junior's new album via Twitter. Also Heechul tweeted, "'BONAMANA' has been at #1 in Taiwan for over a year. At the end, only our 5th album's new song will be able to beat 'BONAMANA'. Even though we are going crazy over the preparation of the 5th album, you guys will go crazy because of the album's release, because we are a killer group."

Super Junior has been absent from the Korean music scene since the release of their 4th full-length album "BONAMANA" in May 2010.

Fans compile radio clips to create full version of Super Junior's "Bijin"

Koreaboo previously reported that Super Junior would be releasing the Japanese version of their hit song, "Bonamana," as their first step into the Japanese market. The Japanese version has been given the name of "Bijin."

The group never made their official debut in Japan, and SM Entertainment has also stated that the release of "Bijin" is in reality, not the group's official Japanese debut. "Bijin" will be used on major TV channels in Japan as the promotional song for the Japanese convenience store chain, Circle K Sunkus. 

Fans have managed to gather clips of "Bijin" and compiled them to create the full song. Check out the audio below!

EDITORIAL: Fanboy & Fangirl Pick Best Kpop Songs for America

With so many artists tackling the Japanese market this year, other artists have tried or plan to make the bold step by breaking into the seemingly impenetrable American music industry. American mainstream music currently consists of upbeat, catchy pop and dance songs with a sprinkling of memorable slower-tempo songs.

BoA, Wonder Girls, JYJ, and Se7en have each released music here in America with the aspiration of being one of the first Asian artists to become a household name. On the other hand, Rain took a different approach by starring in the Hollywood movie "Ninja Assassin". 2NE1 is expected to make the leap this year under the wing of Black Eyed Peas producer and rapper will.i.am. This brings to me to today's topic of discussion: what songs do you think would make it big if they were released in America? Here's my list.

B2ST - "Thanks To" - This duet is great. The best one out of the 3 pairs. Yoseob and Junhyung are smooth (Junhyung says, "I'm fly like a G6!" It's almost like he has his mind set on it). The song reminds me of something a famous rapper would collaborate with Justin Timberlake on.

Taeyang - "Wedding Dress" and "I'll Be There" - Taeyang has a very marketable quality about him, and so many people I know think he's the hottest thing to walk the face of the earth. I guess when the Beliebers grow up, I assume they would graduate to him.

Seungri - "What Can I Do" - This song has a Taio Cruz sort of feel to me.

G.NA - "I'll Back Off So You Can Live Better" - This was one of the standout songs to me in 2010, and I thought this had a very western sound to it. Makes sense, since G.NA is from Canada after all.

4Minute - "HUH" and "Muzik" - I pick up a Pussycat Dolls vibe from these girls.

SHINee - "Forever or Never" - This was originally an English song by Cinema Bizarre. This song of SHINee's is seriously underrated and most definitely gives a much more mature sound that could appeal to people in America.

BoA - "Adrenaline" and "Dangerous" ("Dangerous" was done by the same guy who did "Eat You Up"). I actually thought BoA's last album was slightly ahead of its time. Now that club dance music featured on the album is more relevant today. Maybe she can become a household name if she were to release another English album to coincide with her upcoming Hollywood movie.

2NE1 - "Can't Nobody", "Clap Your Hands", and "Go Away" - At first, I was skeptical that 2NE1 could even have a chance here, but these three songs all give a nice glimpse into the girls' fierce artistry. Packed with bold language and a strong sound, Americans could fall in love with them.

Se7en - "Drips" - If I'm not mistaken, this song was featured in a Lexus commercial not too long ago. Songs from CFs have a tendency to become popular when they go to the radio. But sadly, people would most likely remember it as that "Lexus song," not a Se7en song. 

Super Junior-M - "Off My Mind" (Henry's Solo) - I guess it helps that Henry is from North America, because he knows how to create the correct sound that would suit well in his own market. Could SM plan to use him as a solo artist in America?

GD&TOP - "High High" - The English lyrics need to be slightly changed, but it has the potential to become successful.

Speaking of SHINee, the producer of "Lucifer" released an English demo of the song. It's not bad, and I can totally see why he eliminated "Lucifer" from the lyrics. That's just suicide in America. The bible thumpers would think they're the spawn of Satan (only judging by the title).

Notice how all the male artists I chose are solos or a duet? It's all about what is current. Boy band songs have no shot making it here in America right now. That's why I'm iffy choosing SHINee's "Forever or Never", but the song could work. But songs I selected have a special quality about them. Specific girl groups could potentially make it. SNSD's image and material is in no way relevant here in America. If SM did a fierce and/or provocative SNSD subgroup, then we'll talk. 2NE1, 4Minute, and maybe f(x) has got it right for the American feel.

Who knows, maybe after all these artists have done their Japanese promotions, they will want to break into the Western world. With that, they will not only have become legendary pioneers, but the bigger market could most definitely lead to an even greater success. It's a race now to see who will rise to the top. America is long overdue for a successful Asian artist.

I would love to see my favorite K-pop artists achieve their dreams of success in America too, but I'd like to point out that America HAS seen the success of an Asian artist. Far East Movement anyone? Given however that Far East Movement is in fact an Asian American group. Isn't it high time an Asian Asian artist hit it big is the USA?

I've actually heard people speculate that Girls' Generation might make it in America because they are simply soAsian. I don't necessarily agree, but it's an interesting thought. There's nobody like them in America. They personify the "cute little Asian girl" stereotype perfectly.

In addition to the artists listed above, I'd like to add the following:

Jay Park - "Abandoned" - It's unsurprising that a song penned by this Korean American would sound so distinctly American. Check out the English version Jay Park wrote and shared with his fans on YouTube.

Miss A - "Love Alone" - Some people have criticized this song for soundingtoo American and not having enough Miss A flare. But when I find a catchy tune I love, I don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Love this song!

One Way - "Magic" and "Rainy Days" - One Way have an elegant R&B sound comparable Ne-Yo or Usher. The fact that they speak English and write their own music is also hugely marketable.

Rania - "Dr. Feel Good (English version)" - Seeing how this song has already been featured on American televisions shows on MTV and Spike, I'd say this song fits right with mainstream American music.

Interestingly, Rania will not be revealing the ethnicity of their members during their promotions in the US. Apparently these rookies are going to focus on doing radio appearances, without mentioning their background as they advance into the US market. I'm very curious to see how this impacts the success of their promotions.

Fanboy has Taeyang pretty well covered, but I'd like to add another Taeyang song to the list just for kicks: "Connection", an English language song that was included on the international version of Solar. I think Taeyang is probably one of the most marketable Korean artists in America.

Super Junior's Kyuhyun returns to work after car accident

Super Junior's maknae, Kyuhyun, was recently involved in an unfortunate car accident when a truck driver changed lanes, hitting Kyuhyun's vehicle. Luckily, the singer did not suffer any serious injuries, and the maknae was confirmed to have returned to work today. The singer showed up on the set today to begin shooting for the "Superstar K Season 3" music video. Kyuhyun was unable to attend his performance for the "Three Musketeers" musical yesterday, but the singer has managed to returned to work at the earliest possible time. On the set, fans noticed his slight cuts and bruises from his accident, but he still appears to be unfazed by the incident. In 2007, Kyuhyun was involved in a much more serious car accident that landed him in the hospital and recovery for several months, right before the "Don't Don" promotions. Fortunately, this car accident did not have a substantial adverse impact on his or Super Junior's future. Kyuhyun is currently in the midst of promotions for Super Junior-M and is expected to participate in the upcoming Super Junior album due out this year. We wish Kyuhyun the best and are happy to see he has had a speedy recovery.

Super Junior Kyuhyun involved in a car accident

Super Junior Kyuhyun suffered bruises during a recent car accident. On April 8th at 5AM, Kyuhyun was on his way to the Gwangju Culture & Art Center Grand Theater for his musical "Three Musketeers."

A truck was in the process of changing lanes and hit Kyuhyun's vehicle, causing an accident. Kyuhyun was sent to a nearby hospital. He acquired bruises on both his arms and legs, but initial diagnosis says that he seemed to not have suffered from any bone fractures or broken bones. Kyuhyun is currently getting an examination.

Due to the traffic accident, Kyuhyun's may not make it for his April 8th show for his musical "Three Musketeers."

Leeteuk responds to netizens calling his ex-girlfriend a ’sponsor’

On February 9th, Leeteuk tweeted, “Please refrain from using such exploitive news titles for promotional reasons. It does not feel good.”

This was in response to various news articles which headlined Leeteuk’s ex-girlfriend as a “sponsor”. The day before, Leeteuk had revealed through “Super Junior’s Foresight” that he was under the ’special care’ of an older woman during his trainee days.

Apparently, his ex-girlfriend took care of him from head to toe, even giving him extra pocket change when he went shopping or to the salon. Leeteuk added, “It was both psychologically and financially helpful“.

Many media outlets viewed his relationship as unusual, and so they labelled his girlfriend as a ’sponsor’, forcing Leeteuk to make a firm rebuke.

Fans are also defending Leeteuk’s response, as they felt that the media was making intentional negative connotations with the word, ’sponsor’

Super Junior members show off their witty sides in Heechul’s Twitter picture.

Remember Heechul’s button hair? Well Heechul uploaded another photo for the series with the caption, “HEEHEE & MASI & RYEONG9 & GAMEGYU.” Fans got to see Heechul’s groupmates Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, and Choi Si Won make a cameo in his photo.

Heechul is seen with his blond wig once more, and Choi Si Won dons a black tank top that shows off his muscular body. Kyuhyun, on the other hand, was seen staring the camera down with a smirk while Ryeowook posed with a cute V-sign.

Netizens who saw this photo commented, “Kim Heechul is prettier than most girls.” “Choi Si Won’s muscles are very attractive” “It looks like SuJu members are very close to each other.”

'Super Show 3'

Super Junior’s Leeteuk and Heechul were involved in a minor car accident recently, rumored to have been caused by overly zealous fans who chased them in their cars. this is the report on what appears to be a rather serious incident involving member Yesung and a fan’s light stick during their “Super Show 3“ concert in Singapore.

A fan cam from the concert captured the incident in its entirety. In the clip you can see the members of Super Junior  freely roaming about their stage while singing ‘Wonder Boy,’ when all of a sudden, a fan threw their light stick towards the stage, making a direct hit with Yesung’s face.

The impact caused Yesung to double over while clutching his face, and it’s caused many to wonder if the projectile had hit him in the eye.

If the fan had thrown the light stick to get their attention, she got exactly what she wanted, but I’m sure she got the attention of surrounding E.L.Fs as well.

Everyone, it can be really exciting when you’re close to your idols, but please take a moment before you let yourself get carried away. Throwing something, chasing them down, and invading their personal space – these actions are disrespectful, and dangerous besides.

Heechul's interview in GQ stirs up controversy 

In a GQ interview, Heechul had commented, "Of course I have a lot of problems with the company too. But I don't think I need to complain about it to the public. Honestly, do I make little money? No. They talk about slave contracts all over the place now. But the funny things is, what kind of slave buys building for parents? What kind of slave has a car? What kind of slave has the time to play around drinking?"

Some Cassiopeians that read this assumed that it was meant to be a jab toward the JYJ members and have gotten furious. Although Heechul has ignored most of the attacks toward him, it seems like he has finally reached his limit; he has recently retweeted one of the aggressive tweet towards him and commented, "Wow, you really can't speak properly..."

The attack tweet said, "Don't butt in, did you throw away your common sense in the Han River?? Or did you sell it in the market?? Why are you stick your nose in places you shouldn't, you slave ㅡㅡ Ah... Did your master order you to say something like that since you're the slave?? Why don't you just shut up and just be average??"

The problem that Heechul pointed out was in reference to her grammar and spelling. When ELF saw the attacks, they stormed to the offender's twitter and started to attack her back. She quickly apologized by saying, "It's my business what I tweet. But I'm sorry I was so harsh. I didn't think he would RT. I'm sorry I was so harsh to Heechul and I'm sorry I acted without thinking about the consequences. ㅠ Sorry~ Just think of it as aegyo. Heechul, I'm sorry, let's make up. Sorry. ㅠ" and has deleted all of her attacks toward Heechul.

However, ELF weren't so quick to forgive her, and many have spread the news of what she has said to ensure that her actions won't be forgotten. As more and more Korean ELF are starting to get up for the morning, more and more are starting to flood her Twitter. What do you think about the whole incident?

Heechul responds to antis on Twitter

A few hours ago, Heechul had retweeted an anti's tweet. She ended up deleting not only her posts but also her Twitter account. However, his actions caused him to get even more attacks, and he has just replied to all of them in a long essay on his Twitter.

He tweeted:

"Worry about the country, the society, and the economy in that time. When you have the time to read Internet replies, read a newspaper article.. What's the point of being able to read if you can't understand what you're reading.. You have no start and finish and it's all illogical. If you just stay silent, at least you'll be average. Arf arf~"

"I doubt most of the country cares about me or all of you. In fact, I don't even know if they'll see this post. They just say it's fun if I say it is and say it's not if I say it's not.. You all act like you're the spokespeople for the whole country."

"Have you tried doing something good for your parents while you have time to bash someone? Turn the light on in your room instead of your eyes and draw out your future. But I guess I'm just as childish for fighting the people shitting on me here.. If you're gonna shit on something, go do it in your bathroom."

"Also, you red-eyed dogs that don't have anything to rip apart. I guess you know you did wrong, because when something comes out you make it into something big and go insane... You are part of the public and you are part of the country, but you're neither the whole public nor the entire country."
